Abstract

La hemorragia intracerebral es un importante problema de salud pública que genera altas tasas de muerte y discapacidad en adultos. Aunque el número de ingresos hospitalarios relacionados con esta patología ha aumentado en todo el mundo en los últimos 10 años, la mortalidad no ha disminuido. Los resultados de los ensayos clínicos y los estudios observacionales sugieren que la atención primaria y especializada coordinada se asocia con una mortalidad más baja que la práctica comunitaria típica. El desarrollo de objetivos de tratamiento para cuidados intensivos y nuevas secuencias de atención especializada, pueden mejorar el resultado después de una hemorragia intracerebral. Los enfoques de tratamiento específicos incluyen el diagnóstico temprano y la hemostasia, el manejo agresivo de la presión arterial, la cirugía abierta, las técnicas quirúrgicas mínimamente invasivas para eliminar el coágulo, las técnicas para eliminar la sangre intraventricular y el manejo de la presión intracraneal.
